Do you have a Clonable subscription or do you want to take out 1 or more? And do you want to know what you can and should do yourself to get the Clone at its best? At Clonable we expect our customers to take care of certain things themselves. Below you will find an overview and a 10-step plan to make sure you don't forget anything and your clone is complete.
We aim to have the clones live two weeks after requesting the clone and signing the Docusign. This also means that invoicing will start after two weeks. If it takes longer than two weeks to create the clones due to problems on the client's side, the invoicing will also start automatically. This means that both Clonable and the customer must contribute to completing the creation process as soon as possible. After this, the completion of the clone can begin.
As a customer, there are a number of tasks that you need to perform so that the Clone can be put live. The most important thing is that you as a customer configure the DNS settings. We expect from our customers that this can be done within 2 weeks. The sooner this is done the sooner we can put the clone live. It does not matter if you do not know how to do this. The best way to set up this data is to contact your hosting company, marketing agency or web builder. They can set this up for you.
As with the setting of the DNS data, the same applies to the language tags. These are intended to let Google know which domains have which language settings. When cloning a site, the new pages will be on a different domain, which also requires different language settings. As with the DNS, these should also be set properly within 2 weeks, so that the clone can be completed before the start of invoicing.

At Clonable it is possible to pay annually, or monthly. You will always receive an invoice from us. You can choose to pay this manually each time, but it is much easier to set up a direct debit. This takes less effort, and this way you ensure that you always pay the invoice on time. Our invoices are always sent to you by email, but you can also always find the invoices in the dashboard of Clonable, under 'Billing'. Here you will also find information about the date sent, the latest payment date, and whether it has already been paid. When you wait too long to pay, you will receive another email with a reminder from us.

We use Artificial Intelligence for our translations. The quality of this is usually around 95-97%, depending on the type of text and the language. So we do not offer a 100% error-free translation. What does that mean for you as a customer? Sometimes some errors will creep in, but they are easy to fix. Once you modify a word, the new translation will immediately be implemented everywhere on the site. Another thing that sometimes goes wrong is a menu item. Why? Because a menu item consists of one separate word so that our translation engine does not understand the context. With longer sentences, this is almost never the case. What is useful is to call in a translation agency to go through the site again. You can also have this done by one of our affiliated agencies.

Time investment: You decide. It is recommended to spend a few hours on this. In this way you can quickly achieve a 98-99% quality guarantee.
Just cloning and translating a site is not enough. Although we deliver a good translation with Clonable, a site does not consist of text only. It is wise to go through the clone once and personalize it. Think for example of changing images and the logo. These are easy to modify with our image replacement function in the substitution rules. You can also use these substitution rules to implement certain preferences on your website. For example, it is useful if the shipping country for German visitors to a site cloned to German in the shopping cart is automatically set to Germany. And of course it's easy if the most widely used payment method in Germany, Sofortbanking, appears at the top of the list of payment methods. These are small adjustments that make the German customer feel even more at home, increasing the likelihood that he will purchase something. By personalizing your clone with these kinds of adjustments as desired, you make the site more complete. Check out our Knowledgebase for more ideas, and explanations on how to customize.

Time investment: It is wise to spend a few hours going through the site to make sure you can customize everything to your liking.
When you purchase an International package with translation from Clonable, this is with a maximum number of characters (e.g. 2 million for a Medium package). If you have a lot of pages or products on your site, this number of characters may not be enough to translate everything. Clonable will then translate the first 2 million characters of the loaded pages, but after that it will stop translating. In the backend of Clonable, you can view the usage of each clone under 'Clone settings' -> 'Usage and billing'. Here you can see how many of the 2 million characters you have left, or if you are already at your limit. It is also possible to buy extra characters should you need them. You can order these on the same page. You can do this with one-time bundles, for example 250,000 extra characters, or you can set a standard extra characters per month. This allows you to set a maximum of 100,000 extra characters per month, for example. This allows your clone to automatically use more characters per month, should the need arise. For example, if you know that there will be a number of new pages or products next month, it would be wise to check how many characters you have left, and whether you should purchase more.

When cloning a site, orders placed on the clone just come in with the orders of your original site. You can manage these orders in the backend of your original site. It is important to set the right shipping methods and rates. You do this by changing the data for the corresponding country in the backend of your original site. This will work differently for different CMS systems. If you can't work it out, ask your hosting party, marketing department or IT specialist for help. It is of course also important that the information on shipping methods and shipping costs on the clone is correct. This information is easily adjusted with our editor in the backend of Clonable.

Other countries use different payment methods than the Netherlands. For example, Belgians like to use Mistercash/bancontact, the Germans Sofort banking, the French and English use a credit card transfer and so on. In the backend of your original site you can add and remove payment methods. If you can't manage this, ask your web builder for help.
In addition, it also feels more familiar to visitors of the clone if their favorite payment method is already selected automatically, and is at the top of the list. For a German, a cloned site looks just like a real German site if Sofort banking is already selected at the top of the row in the shopping cart. The URLs, or web addresses of your clone, are not automatically translated for you by Clonable. In the beginning they will still be in Dutch. You can translate the URLs in the backend of Clonable. This can be done in two ways: you can add the new urls yourself, or you can have them translated automatically. It is important that you check a few of the URLs, because it can happen that small parts of the URL or the wrong use of punctuation marks Clonable does not translate the URL correctly. If you want your Clone to be found in search engines, there are a few ways to give that extra boost. First, it is important to place enough content on your original site. This content will then be translated. It is also very important that the translation contains keywords. Because Clonable uses AI translation, it is possible that not the right keyword is used in the translation. It is therefore important that you as a customer do a small keyword analysis to see what the keywords are in the language of the clone. Then you can add these keywords if necessary via the backend of Clonable.
Through our editor, you can also change theMetatitle and Metadescriptionof the pages of your clone. This is also a good thing to do. It makes it clear to the visitor of the clone in search engines what the page is about and what products can be found on it. It is then of course smart to add keywords to this metadescription.

Our system allows you to translate feeds so that you can use Google Shopping, for example, in other languages. Through the XML feeds option in the backend of Clonable you can upload your XML feed, and it will be translated. Some fields like price or links are not useful to translate. You can exclude these to reduce the cost of translation. After the feed is translated you can import it. In our Knowledgebase you can find more information about using the XML feed feature.
